Tube Volume Calculator — Tubes to Pans Conversion
Work out how many half pans a tube of watercolour paint will fill.
How We Calculate This
How Tube to Pan Conversion Works
Pans filled = (Tube volume x 0.9 shrinkage) / Pan volume
The total tube volume is reduced by 10% for drying shrinkage, then divided by the pan volume (1.5 ml for half pan, 3 ml for full pan). Fill pans in 3-4 thin layers over several days to prevent cracking.
