Armature Wire Calculator — Sculpture Framework
Calculate wire length, weight and materials for sculpture armatures.
How We Calculate This
How Wire Length Is Calculated
Total wire = figure height × type multiplier × complexity × 2 (doubled)
Human figures need approximately 5x their height in wire (spine + 2 arms + 2 legs + head + base attachments). Animals need 5.5x (4 legs + spine + tail). Abstract forms need about 4x. This is then doubled for structural strength and adjusted for pose complexity.
